Pokemon GO Event

Meanwhile, the new Pokemon GO event, will increase spawns for both Fire-type and Ice-type Pokemon. Also expect to be offered discount on Lucky Eggs and a sort of blanket XP bonus for other activities. It is confirmed that the event will come to an end on June 20, a day before the real solstice. As read from the blog post:

"With summer quickly approaching in the Northern Hemisphere and winter approaching in the Southern Hemisphere, we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the upcoming solstices than with a Fire-type and Ice-type Pokemon GO event. From 1:00 P.M. PDT on June 13 to 1:00 P.M. PDT on June 20, 2017, Trainers around the world will discover more Charmander, Cyndaquil, Growlithe, Houndour, Ponyta, Swinub, Vulpix, and their Evolutions. You’ll also want to keep an eye out for Sneasel, Magmar, Cloyster, and other Fire types and Ice types!"

Consequently, the Pokemon GO event "Fire and Ice" is a wonderful news for the games gym rework.

Pokemon GO developers, Niantic made it public that they will be:

"temporarily disabling Gyms for a short period of time" which is intended so that the team can prepare "a new update focused on collaborative group gameplay features that will get you playing Pokémon GO in fun new ways."

Expect more from Niantic, as they promise some sort of mysterious "collaborative" gameplay update that somehow affects gyms and isn't necessarily tied to the long-awaited PvP and legendary updates.

For a lot of Pokemon Go players, the Pokemon GO event "Solstice" marks only their second opportunity to find a Lapras. Lapras was a featured Pokemon during the Water Festival event, although many players complained it never spawned in their area.
